THE FULL WOLF MOON
★ ESBAT OF JANUARY ★
The Wolf Full Moon is, for the Seax-Wica (Saxon Wicca), the full moon of January and is so named since in this rigid winter period, when supplies begin to run low, animals are looking for food. In ancient times this period was characterized by the scarce presence of game and the wolf, hungry, approached the inhabited centers.
The animals are mostly in hibernation, the earth is frozen, and the vegetation is shrouded in a cold and deep sleep.
This is an Esbat in which energy must be conserved within one's group (family / coven) helping those in difficulty. We must prepare to welcome the rebirth of spring which is approaching with the Sabbat of Imbolc (February 1). Particular attention must be paid to inner travel and meditation.
